Eight cities built on top of each other over 3,000 years — India's capital is a living museum of empires.
Delhi is India's capital and the starting point for the Golden Triangle tour circuit. The city contains three UNESCO World Heritage Sites (Qutb Minar, Red Fort, Humayun's Tomb) and Indira Gandhi International Airport, India's busiest hub with direct flights from Europe, North America, and Southeast Asia.
Delhi has been the seat of power for the Delhi Sultanate, the Mughals, the British Raj, and now the Republic of India. Each empire left monuments that still stand — often within walking distance of each other.
Old Delhi (Shahjahanabad), built by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in 1639, is a sensory overload of narrow lanes, spice markets, silver jewellers, and some of the finest Mughlai food on the subcontinent. New Delhi, designed by Edwin Lutyens and Herbert Baker in the 1920s, is all wide boulevards, embassy rows, and grand civic buildings.
Most Golden Triangle tours begin and end in Delhi, so our guides know the city intimately — including the hidden gems that most tours skip entirely: the step-well at Agrasen ki Baoli, the Sufi shrine of Nizamuddin, and the dawn bird market at Jama Masjid.
Delhi is the starting point for all our Golden Triangle tours. Our drivers meet you directly at the airport and briefing happens en route to your hotel.
Delhi rewards slow exploration. Here are the highlights our guides cover on a full-day tour.

Shah Jahan's great fort and palace complex on the banks of the Yamuna. The massive red sandstone walls enclose palaces, pavilions, and gardens. India's Prime Minister addresses the nation from its ramparts every Independence Day.

The world's tallest brick minaret at 73 metres, built in 1193. The surrounding Qutb complex also contains the Iron Pillar of Delhi — a 7-metre column that has stood for 1,600 years without rusting, defying metallurgical explanation.

Built in 1570, this was the first garden-tomb on the Indian subcontinent and directly inspired the design of the Taj Mahal 80 years later. Less crowded than the Taj, it is architecturally just as stunning.
Chandni Chowk is one of the most exciting urban food environments in the world. Our guided walk covers Paranthe Wali Gali, Khari Baoli spice market, Jama Masjid, and a rickshaw ride through the silver and textile lanes.
For first-timers, Connaught Place (central Delhi) or Aerocity (near the airport) are practical bases. For character, Paharganj puts you close to New Delhi railway station and the backpacker trail.
The Delhi Metro is clean, air-conditioned, and covers most tourist sites. For flexibility, our private car service means no route-planning — we handle everything door-to-door.
Delhi's air quality deteriorates significantly October–January. If you are sensitive to pollution, carry an N95 mask for outdoor sightseeing during these months.
Street food in Old Delhi is excellent but choose busy stalls where turnover is high. Avoid raw salads and cut fruit from vendors. Our guides will steer you to the right places.
No photography inside the Red Fort's museum galleries or inside Jama Masjid during prayer times. Respect signs — fines are issued by authorities.
